From last to first

Cedric’s Correct Opinions

I keep thinking about that Point2Homes survey. Two things can be true:

  • That survey is crap. 11 of the top 20 are in Ontario, and all but one of them do not border the city of Toronto. It must be nice to have all the Toronto benefits, but wash yourself of the problems Toronto has to deal with, right? ;)
  • London does truthfully look like an unhappy city, and I can see it reverberate through and between all of the silos I find myself in each day.

Two things I’m very interested in tackling:

  • How did we become unhappy?
  • How can we become happier?

It is something I would like to study, and get to the root of. Unlike a lot of civic thinkers around here, I would like to take an open look at what’s making us unhappy, and discover what solutions we can come up with to get us where we (all of us) should ideally be. In other words, what can we realistically do about it.

I am not currently sure at what form this will take yet, especially the end result. I am thinking of ways to start this off. Don’t be alarmed if, let’s say, you’re a former Londoner and I show up in your inbox asking for an exit interview.

For now, I will let that marinate here before I take my first steps.
